- R 1 166,67

How this calculator works
The calculator takes the money you have available, subtracts anything already committed — bills still to go off, a savings transfer you intend to make — and divides what is left across the number of days remaining.
A daily figure works because it matches how spending actually happens. Monthly totals are too abstract to influence a decision at a till; a daily number is something you can check in seconds.
The formula
Daily limit = (Available money − Committed spending) ÷ Number of days remaining.
Worked example
With 6,400 available, 2,100 of bills still to pay and 18 days until payday, you have 4,300 of genuinely spendable money — about 238 a day. Spending 400 today means the remaining days drop to roughly 229 each.
Why this calculation is useful
It removes the mid-month cliff. Instead of spending freely for two weeks and then rationing, you get an early signal every time you check the number, while there is still time to adjust.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Forgetting bills that have not yet gone off, which inflates the daily figure.
- Including savings in spendable money instead of subtracting it as a commitment.
- Recalculating only at month end, when the information is no longer useful.
- Ignoring a known large expense that falls inside the period.
- Treating the figure as a target to reach rather than a ceiling.
